- A useful, compact growing evergreen. Suitable for all but the most windswept gardens.
- Long flowering period in late winter and spring make this good for insects. White flowers open from pink buds. Flowers may be followed by blue-black berries.
- Birds use laurustinus for nesting and shelter, as well as occasionally taking the berries.
