  • A native shrub or tree, well adapted to the coast and suitable even for the most exposed gardens. Useful as a windbreak, hedge or to stabilise sandy banks.
  • Sea buckthorn is a spiny plant with narrow, grey-green foliage and persistent, bright orange berries. Only female plants will bear berries.
  • Birds may take berries but not until very late in the year.
  • Flowers visited by bumblebees.
  • Ash Pug and Brown Tail Moth caterpillar food plant.
