It’s impossible to know – but in general terms the felling of tropical forest harms indigenous peoples, destroys wildlife habitat, removes a carbon sink, and reduces cloud cover, accelerating global warming. Buying something local may be more expensive, but at least you have more chance of knowing the consequences of your actions. And it helps your local economy.
